Common Phone Issues
No Dial Tone
Symptoms: Phone is on but you don't hear a dial tone when you pick up.
Try these steps:
- Check that the phone is connected to the network (Ethernet cable plugged in)
- Check that the network cable is connected to a working port
- Reboot the phone by unplugging power, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging back in
- If using WiFi, check that WiFi is connected
Can't Hear the Other Person
Symptoms: Call connects but no audio.
Try these steps:
- Check the volume - press the volume up button
- Make sure you're not on mute - look for mute indicator
- Try using speakerphone instead of handset
- Reboot the phone
Other Person Can't Hear Me
Symptoms: You can hear them but they can't hear you.
Try these steps:
- Check you're not on mute - look for mute indicator light
- Try using speakerphone instead of handset
- If using a headset, check the headset connection
- Reboot the phone
Phone Display Shows "Unregistered"
Symptoms: Phone shows unregistered or no extension number.
What to do:
- Try rebooting the phone
- Contact your administrator - the phone may need to be re-provisioned
Calls Going Straight to Voicemail
Symptoms: Your phone doesn't ring, calls go directly to voicemail.
Check these things:
- Is Do Not Disturb (DND) enabled? Look for DND indicator on screen
- Press the DND button to toggle it off
- Check with your administrator about call forwarding settings
Poor Audio Quality
Symptoms: Choppy, robotic, or echoing audio.
Try these steps:
- If on WiFi, try connecting with an Ethernet cable instead
- Close other applications using internet bandwidth
- Reboot the phone
- Contact your administrator if problem persists
