Audio Prompts
The “Audio Prompt” page can be found under the “Audio” menu option.
Audio prompts allow you to manage sound files for use in call flows and other places in the system. They are required to be in a MONO WAV format. It can not be stereo.
It is important to note that uploading prompts aren’t required because WebFones, within call flows, has a text-to-speech command that is capable of handling most menu applications. However, this page is necessary for a completely natural voice or a professional recording.
There are two ways of uploading audio prompts into WebFones. The first is to upload the file, and the second is to record with a handset using an extension and pin to perform the recordings. Each are discussed below:
Handset Recording
To record a new prompt on a handset, press the “New Prompt” button at the top left. Enter in a prompt name, and select the “record with handset” option. Note that it automatically fills in an extension and PIN number. Make sure to note those values and press “Create Prompt.”
Wait five minutes. Then, dial the extension for the new prompt and enter the PIN. You will be prompted to leave the message after the tone. When done, press pound “#,” and then press “1” to save the recording. Do not hang up until after you have pressed “1” to save.
Recording a message with the handset is convenient when you make frequent changes to your attendant and want to have a natural voice.
Uploading a Recording
To upload a new recording, press the “New Prompt” button at the top left. Enter in a prompt name and press the “Upload Mono Wav” option. Before uploading your sound file, make sure to remove slashes and punctuation from the name. Then, press “Create Prompt” to load the file.
