Create Cascading Rings
Create Cascading Rings
A Cascading Ring allows you to begin ringing a small group of users and then automatically expand to a larger group if the call isn’t answered. This setup is ideal when a primary team handles most calls but occasionally needs backup during busy periods.
Example Scenario
You have two call groups:
- Sales: Amy, Joe
- Sales2: Amy, Joe, Sarah, John
Here’s what that looks like:

In this configuration:
- Stage 1: Ring Sales for 15 seconds
- Stage 2: Continue ringing Amy and Joe, but add Sarah and John from Sales2
Best Practices
Cascading rings are effective, but keep in mind:
- Callers rarely wait more than 30–40 seconds before hanging up
- A 30-second ring equals roughly 6–7 rings
- If you need additional layers, consider:
- Or sending the caller to a Call Queue, which provides music-on-hold and a better waiting experience
These strategies help prevent caller frustration and reduce abandoned calls.
